flagship post
all right, so i've officially entered the blogosphere. i'm not quite sure how comfortable i am with all of this. blogs have always seemed so self-indulgence. but over the last year or so, i've become hooked on a few good ones that have really proved to me their potential as an alternative media source. it will also give me the opportunity to avoid filling my friends' inboxes with what i think are good articles.
i'll likely focus on media and politics, though occassionally i may post notes and photos from friends and family. i'll provide article links where i can, but the shade for hyperlinks in my template doesn't differ much from the regular text, so i'll generally place it near the top of the post.
as i've stated above, james redpath was a reporter for horace greeley's new york tribune who covered "bleeding kansas," the state's violent battle to stay free from slavery. the history of firebrand journalists is compelling to me, and i hope to, at times, point out contemporary examples of redpath, mark twain, et al.
vivez sans temps mort.

Thanks for helping me overcome my bloggaphobia. This could be good.
